Dear Fellow Citizens,
The Awami National Party stands on a clear and unwavering commitment to democracy, human dignity, and social justice. Since its inception, the ANP has represented a political tradition rooted in non-violence, constitutionalism, and the belief that the true strength of a state lies in its people.
We believe in representative democracy, where power flows upward from the citizens, not downward from unelected authorities. Decisions must be made through inclusive participation, open debate, and majority consensus—free from coercion, fear, or exclusion.
The ANP is firmly federalist, advocating a decentralized political order in which provinces enjoy genuine autonomy over their resources, governance, and development priorities, while remaining united within a strong and democratic federation. We reject centralized authoritarianism in all its forms.
We are unequivocally secular. The state must remain neutral in matters of faith, ensuring equal treatment, full citizenship, and freedom of belief for all. Religion must never be exploited as a political weapon to divide society or justify violence.
As a progressive and social-democratic party, we strive for forward-looking reforms that respond to changing social realities—technological transformation, economic inequality, and barriers to social mobility. We believe markets must serve society, not dominate it, and that a just state must protect its most vulnerable through robust social safety nets.
The ANP is anti-extremist and anti-authoritarian. We actively oppose ideologies that promote hatred, violence, sectarianism, or ethnic supremacy. Likewise, we categorically reject military interference in politics, hereditary rule, bureaucratic authoritarianism, and oligarchic control over the economy and state institutions.
Our politics is grounded in non-violence. We believe lasting change is achieved not through force, but through organized, peaceful struggle, democratic engagement, and moral courage.
